Regional IPv6 Week Feb 6-12 in Latin America, Caribbean

IPv6 WeekAs you get ready for World IPv6 Launch in June 2012, those of you in Latin America can join in to Regional IPv6 Week happening next week, February 6 – 12, 2012. From the website:

The Regional IPv6 Week will be a coordinated test of the new Internet protocol, held from 06 to 12 of February, 2012. Websites, content providers, ISPs, NSPs, as well as final users are invited to participate. This regional initiative was originated in Brazil and nowdays is involving providers in almost every country in Latin America and the Caribbean regions. The test is open and anyone can participate, even from other parts of the world. Companies and institutions such as: Globo, iG, KingHost, Telefônica, Terra, UOL and USP, and many others will take part on this test.

ISPs and data centers in the region will be providing IPv6 connectivity and many websites will enable IPv6 connectivity.  The effort already has a good number of participants and has instructions for others who want to join in.  They are also running a contest where the winner will receive an iPad 2 and a fellowship to attend the meeting LACNIC XVII. (You must be in the Latin America or Caribbean region to participate in the contest.)

It’s great to see this kind of regional effort taking place and we look forward to seeing the increased IPv6 usage as a result.  Those companies and organizations participating will be in great shape for World IPv6 Launch 4 months later on June 6, 2012!
